2001 World Slalom Champs:
Congradulations
to Northern California's Gary Cross becoming the World Slalom Champion
at Morro Bay!
There
were 69 entries in this contest, making it one of the largest turnouts
for slalom in over a decade.
The course was different from what many were anticipating. It required
the racer to generate speed throughout the course. Times were in
the 19.5-23+sec range during the first round. The competition was
split when the 16 fastest entries went on to head-to-head heats.
In
the final round the 19 second barrier was broken, on the last and
deciding run, by Gary Cross...insuring him the win.
